AI Is Delivering Measurable ROI in Healthcare, NVIDIA Survey Finds
NVIDIA’s second annual State of AI in Healthcare and Life Sciences survey finds 70% of organizations are actively deploying AI — up from 63% in 2024. Generative AI and large language models are the dominant workload (69%), and agentic AI is gaining ground with 47% of respondents using or evaluating AI agents. For providers and payers, the clearest ROI is coming from administrative workflows and workflow optimization, not glamorous clinical applications. Eighty-five percent of executives say AI is helping increase revenue, 80% say it’s reducing costs, and 46% plan to grow AI spending by more than 10% this year. Open source models are central to strategy for 82% of respondents, enabling domain-specific deployment without full vendor lock-in.
For operators evaluating AI investment, this report offers concrete benchmarks: return is real, and it’s showing up fastest in scheduling, documentation, coding, and utilization management — not in complex clinical tools. The question has shifted from “should we invest in AI” to “where do we deploy it first.”
